Philippians 2:4–8 (Listen)

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,1 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,2 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,3 being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Hymn: TLH 358, st. 1-2 : Lamb of God, We Fall Before Thee

1. Lamb of God, we fall before Thee,
Humbly trusting in Thy Cross.
That alone be all our glory;
All things else are only dross.

2. Thee we own a perfect Savior,
Only Source of all that’s good.
Every grace and every favor
Comes to us through Jesus’ blood.
