Born and raised in the state of Washington, spending most of those years in
Ellensburg. Child of Gilbert and Ruth Sydow.

Attended and graduated from Northwestern Lutheran Academy, Mobridge, South
Dakota (1955-1959).

Attended Immanuel Lutheran College and Mankato State College (1959-1962)
Awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-theological Studies from Immanuel
Lutheran College in May of 1998.

Attended and graduated from Immanuel Lutheran Seminary (1962-1965). Between
my first and second year of seminary the school moved from Mankato,
Minnesota, to Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Graduated with a Master of Education in Professional Development degree at
the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.

Married Kathryn Firle in January of 1966.

Children: Paul (deceased); Christine (Mrs. John Gerbitz and children:
Rebekah, Hannah, Sarah, Rachel, and Joshua); Cheryl (Mrs. Paul Meyer and
children: Benjamin, Jessie, Caleb, and Chara); and Jonathan (JD).
