ACADEMIC POLICIES

SCHOOL YEAR

The school year includes two semesters of approximately 18 weeks each. The first semester ends prior to the Christmas recess.

Students entering the seminary take part in a four-week orientation program at the beginning of the first semester.

When possible, students who have completed their first year are assigned to an internship under the supervision of pastors in congregations of the Church of the Lutheran Confession which operate a Christian day school. When possible, students who have completed their second year are assigned to an internship under the supervision of pastors in congregations of the CLC which do not have the benefit of a Christian day school. Each of these internships is six weeks in length, beginning in mid-August and extending until the end of September.

Students are expected to attend all classes scheduled for them in the 3-year curriculum. All students must fulfill the requirements of each course in order to advance to the next level of the seminary.

CREDITS

The unit of credit is the semester hour, defined as one class hour per week for one semester. Thus a lecture course which meets two periods per week carries two semester hours of credit.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The requirements for graduation from the seminary are the satisfactory completion of the prescribed course of study and agreement with the doctrinal position described under Aims and Objectives. Recommendation for being considered a candidate for the pastoral ministry (CRM) of the Church of the Lutheran Confession is based upon agreement with the confessional position of this church body and upon the qualifications set forth by Holy Scripture in 1 Corinthians 4:1-2, 1 Timothy 3:1-7, and Titus 1:5-9.
